What You Don’t Know CAN Hurt You.“We don’t have any network problems,” said the Company Owner
This is from a report for a company whose senior management told us their network had no problems.
1) Your network is severely lacking in SECURITY and MANAGEMENT. Users can access confidential information, and destroy mission-critical data without warning.
Now you may be burdened by HIPAA, GLB, and privacy laws that you could be violating if your network is not secure and properly maintained by professionals. At the end of 2004, Microsoft will stop providing security patches and updates for Windows 98, NT, and NT Server, leaving you totally exposed to viruses.2) UNLICENSED SOFTWARE has been installed on many systems.
3) There is virtually no VIRUS PROTECTION on any system.
4) CRITICAL UPDATES have not been installed.
5) DATA FILES have been stored on local hard drives, which are not backed up.
6) BACKUPS are not well managed nor regularly tested. Test restores failed.
7) CABLING has not been properly installed or labeled.
8) There is no one on your STAFF who has the ability to properly manage and maintain the network.
9) Your organization does not have a PLAN to use technology to meet its business goals.
10) Your organization does not have any WRITTEN POLICIES related to the proper use of technology, e-mail privacy, Internet access, and data storage.
11) There is no written plan for disaster recovery should your location be destroyed or unusable.
Like most businesses today, yours is probably dependent on computers, but you don’t have the resources to have a fully staffed IT department. You may rely on self-taught staff or consultants, but are they really good?
Most business owners and managers don’t really know the state of their network. You believe that if it is working, everything is OK. You won’t discover your vulnerabilities to major business disruptions until it is too late. Don’t be fooled. Have a professional evaluate your network now.
A network assessment can uncover problems before they become catastrophes. It can also provide a roadmap for corrective actions, so you can save money by budgeting for improvements. By properly evaluating your IT infrastructure, you can plan for better service at a lower cost.
If you identify vulnerabilities before they become critical emergencies, you can protect your organization. With a network assessment, we will give you immediate warning of critical problems before they affect your organization’s core business; an inventory of PC’s and other equipment, listing potential problems with each system; a Network Map and a Corrective Action Plan to address current problems, and prevent future ones.
